Update on Birdville Elementary School

Birdville Elementary School

Our work continues on Birdville Elementary School in Haltom City.

Furthermore, on Saturday, we had the roof top units set with the aid of a helicopter. It is always amazing to watch the precision of those helicopter pilots! We are also wrapping up the masonry work throughout the interior and exterior of the building.

We would like to thank Project Manager Tanner Whitson, Project Engineer Jaime Norton, and Superintendent Coy Rhine – as well as their team and subs – for their hard work. The school is looking terrific and we are on track for an August completion date.

Population Growth Continues in Texas

In the latest population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, four Texas counties ranked in the top 10 for population growth from 2015 to 2016.

Harris County saw the second largest population increase in the country. They added almost 57,000 new residents. Tarrant County ranked 5th with 35,462 new residents. Bexar County was seventh, and Dallas County added more than 29,000, coming in ninth.

Steve Murdock, head of the Hobby Center for the Study of Texas at Rice University, pointed out rapid growth in the state’s suburbs. Additionally, you can find a large amount of residents along the I-35 corridor.

Interestingly, our increasingly diverse economy in our area has allowed us to continue to grow. This is despite a downturn in the oil and gas industry.

While unemployment rates will shift up and down, analysts are predicting a strong 2017 for the Lone Star State. And we hope they are correct!

Update on City of Frisco Warehouse

We are currently making a 20,880 SF warehouse and fleet building expansion for the City of Frisco.

Additionally, Project Manager Keith Melton provided an update:

  • Building poured
  • Prepping to go vertical with CMU
  • We will continue multiple paving pours
  • We will start PHASE 2. This includes paving as well as utilities

Also, the warehouse is at 11300 Research Road. This is off El Dorado Parkway near the Tollway. Lastly, our projected date is August.

Joining the Hogan Pro-Am Again This Year

We’re happy to participate in the Hogan Pro-Am again this year.  The event will take place on Monday, May 22nd at the Colonial Country Club.

Last year, our foursome partnered with pro Geoff Ogilvy and we had a fantastic time!  Using a best ball format, we shot a 7-under 63 on the day.  We hope to improve our score this time around, but honestly, we’re looking forward to an amazing day of golf with someone who knows what they’re doing.

Entertainment Coming to The Shops at Clearfork

While development and construction is moving along at a feverish pace north of Fort Worth, it is very exciting to see southwest Fort Worth grabbing its fair share of headlines.

Clearfork is a 270-acre mixed-use development located on the Trinity River with direct access to the Chisholm Trail Parkway.

Plans include 1.2 million square feet of retail space, 2 million square feet dedicated to office space, 2,500 multi-family residences, and entertainment. The Shops at Clearfork will offer an open-air experience with high-end retailers and restaurants – anchored by a two-story Neiman Marcus.

Additionally, there will be two entertainment options for The Shops. These include AMC Theatres and Pinstripes.

AMC Theatres announced plans to open a 36,000 SF movie complex located just west of Neiman Marcus. The largest movie company in the world is building a complex that will include eight screens, 800 luxury recliners, an outdoor patio, and bar & lounge.

Pinstripes, known for its upscale bowling and bocce games, will open its first Texas location at Clearfork. The 30,000 SF center will include 12 bowling lanes, six indoor and outdoor bocce courts as well as a bistro. It will also include patios with fire pits. There will also be an event space that can host 20 to 600 guests.

Lastly, there are no specific opening dates announced. However, both should be ready to go later this year.

Birdville Elementary Update

This project is defined in part by limited lay down areas and close proximity to existing structures. You can see from this aerial.

The photo illustrates the new construction that is adjacent to the existing school. Additionally, this is slated for demolition beginning in June. Once the demolition is complete, we will construct an 81,000 SF parking lot.

Our team continues to work effectively through the challenges of the site. These include weather and the normal construction issues.

We will keep you updated on the progress!
